In 1980, he and Richard Tomlinson founded GRAEAE (pronounced Grey Eye), a professional theatre company of disabled performers. His British feature film credits include BORN OF FIRE (1987), CITY OF JOY (1992) and WITTGENSTEIN (1993), while on television he appeared in WALTER (1982), RASPBERRY RIPPLE (1988) and SKALLAGRIGG (1994). He is perhaps best known for his role as ruthless alien businessman Sil in DOCTOR WHO ... both on television and in the Big Finish audio adventures! NABIL has presented several documentaries on themes of disability and was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Surrey for his career and his work to change public perceptions of disabled people.
