When young-out-of-work salesman Robin Squire set out one summer day in 1965 to hitch-hike to the South of France for fun, he happened to catch the Beatles in concert at Nice and was inspired thereby to write a novel about a pop group. He did so, got it published, was invited to join BBC TV on the strength of it and found himself playing the first Doctor Who alien to appear in colour on our television screens in Jon Pertwee’s debut as the Time Lord. Robin Squire has been a soldier, bingo steward, spare parts driver, hot-dog seller, magazine journalist, film extra, factory paint-grinder, ditch-digger, copy-editor and TV support artiste. He has two lovely daughters, is a proud grandfather, and currently lives in Hertfordshire.
